Video Submission criteria
Criteria for Submission to #MYparty14 Contest The general guidelines are (commercials that do not meet these guidelines will be disqualified):
Please emphasize to your students the importance of quality work. Good commercials should have a storyboard, script, have been practiced, shot with quality cameras and microphones, and carefully edited. Students should also consider lighting and the background for their commercials.
Commercials will be judged on:

- Student groups of 4 or fewer should create their own political party and party platform.
- Students should then make a 30 second commercial for the key issues of their party and post it to Youtube.
- The YouTube description field must include a link to students’ party platform, a title including party name, and a list of credits.
- Schools are responsible for making sure that proper permission for posting student work online has been obtained.
- Students should save their original video files because the winner’s original file will be needed.
- Please make sure to use fair use guidelines and do not “steal” any copyrighted images or music. Here are some places to find open source music or for students to create their own music.

Commercials will be judged on:
- Video quality
- Subjects in video are crisp and clear
- Video image is steady and clear. Video has adequate lighting.
- There are no awkward pauses within and between video clips. The pace of the video should keep moving right along.
- Transitions are not distracting and greatly increase the “flow” of the video.
- No spelling errors or typos.
- Audio quality
- Sounds are crisp and clear.
- Sounds are correct in their timing, sound level, placement, and selection.
- Silence is used in appropriate areas and kept to a minimum.
- Sounds included in the video add to the mood the video is trying to set.
- Music is either open source or student created.
- Content
- Party has specific issues that you stand for and persuasively argue.
- Everything in the video is related to the party platform.
- Youtube description contains link to the party platform
- Creativity
- The video keeps the viewer interested, successfully telling the story, getting the message across, and ending in a satisfactory manner
- Video presents information in an interesting/imaginative way – it is apparent that considerable time was devoted to thinking of a unique way to present the information.
